Coach Jose Mourinho denied the rumors that his team may try to acquire the attacking leader Jermain Defoe this January, as reported in the English media. It was claimed that the London club is willing to pay around 15 million pounds for the 22-year-old forward.
"That is completely untrue," said J. Mourinho. "He is a very good young player, but we are not interested in him. At the moment, we are not interested in any strikers. If D. Drogba's health continues to improve after a few weeks, he will be able to play the full 90 minutes without any injury consequences, so I don't think we need new forwards."
The Portuguese coach did not rule out the possibility of acquiring an attacking midfielder. Unofficially, it is rumored that "Chelsea" may try to acquire the player Joaquin for this position, or perhaps a slightly withdrawn striker who can play the Spanish talent Fernando Torres.
