Jorge Sampaoli admitted that P. Dybala and M. Icardi are unlikely to go to the World Cup.

Jorge Sampaoli communicating with the media at a press conference before the upcoming match with Italy revealed that the Argentine national team could go to the World Cup without Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi.

Both of these footballers, who are the main stars of their clubs in the Italian championship, were not called up to the national team camp for friendly matches against Italy and Spain.

J. Sampaoli revealed that both footballers are of excellent skill, but their playing style is not completely ideal for the national team, and it could take a lot of time to integrate them into the game, so we will work with what we have now.

"It would be difficult to turn Dybala into a player of our playing style," said the Argentine. "We failed to improve his performances in the national team, and we also need to evaluate whether the current players are better than Paulo and whether we need to work with him to improve his game."

"Icardi's situation is similar to Dybala's. Mauro's game at Inter and in the national team are two incomparable things. I understood that we had to work harder because of it, but time is almost running out.

"I do not know how long his adaptation to the national team might take. I do not rule out the possibility that Mauro will go to Russia, but as a coach, I have to prioritize clarity in the game," added J. Sampaoli.

For this friendly match cycle, attacking players Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuain, Diego Perotti, and Sergio Aguero were called up to the national team camp, but Aguero will miss it due to injury, and his place will be unexpectedly taken by Angel Correa.
