"Leicester City" sniper Jamie Vardy was recognized as the best player of the 2015-2016 season by the Football Journalists Association. Last week, Vardy's English teammate Riyad Mahrez received an award for the same merit, but the Algerian was chosen as the players' choice. Vardy, who contributed significantly to bringing the "Foxes" to within one step of the championship title, scored 22 goals this year. In total, seven Leicester team players were nominated for this award: Danny Drinkwater, Danny Simpson, Wes Morgan, N'Golo Kante, Kasper Schmeichel, and the mentioned duo. Reacting to the award, Vardy thanked his teammates and said that receiving such recognition is a huge honor for him. The striker also hopes to maintain such excellent form in the European Championship."
