England's national team and London's defender John Terry will have to pay a £10,000 fine for criticizing the referee. J. Terry criticized referee Graham Poll after last year's November 7th match between "Tottenham" and "Chelsea" (2-1), in which he received two yellow cards and did not finish the match.
The statement from the English Football Association disciplinary committee states: "We are particularly dissatisfied with the questioning of referee Graham Poll's integrity. We are also disappointed that we did not receive a public apology from J. Terry."
The latter, who is currently recovering from back surgery, initially planned to present his version to the committee, but later changed his mind and accepted the punishment.
The Football Association was displeased with John Terry's comments about referee G. Poll's work in the mentioned match. In an interview with the club's television, "Chelsea" defender implied that he received the second yellow card undeservedly.
"On the field, G. Poll told me that the penalty was for bumping into opponent Hossam Ghaly, but I was just running. Later, after the match, he claimed that I was punished for a previous collision with Ledley King," J. Terry explained.
G. Poll denied these footballer's claims.
