Franck Ribery saw red in the Italian Serie A championship.
Over the weekend, the Frenchman, representing Fiorentina, suffered defeat at home against Lazio. After the match, F. Ribery vented his anger on the sideline referee.
Lazio scored the winning goal in the 89th minute. Fiorentina players claimed offside, but the match referee allowed the goal to stand and Lazio triumphed 2-1.
After the match officials left the field, F. Ribery attacked one of the sideline referees and pushed him strongly twice.
This behavior resulted in a three-match suspension for the Frenchman in the Serie A championship. He will miss games against Sassuolo, Parma, and Cagliari.
