"Juventus" aims for Chevanton and Capello? © EuroFootball.com

In the Italian and Spanish press, it is reported that the reorganizing Turin club wants to acquire the forward Javier Chevanton and appoint "Roma" strategist Fabio Capello as their coach.

The Uruguayan national team player was one of the discoveries of the season - scoring 19 goals, he helped the "Lecce" club avoid relegation to Serie-B. Previously, both the Italian champions and cup winners were interested in Chevanton, but both clubs seem unwilling to pay the requested 11 million euros. So, "Juve" has entered the battle for the Uruguayan.

The 23-year-old player is pleased with these reports: "I can already imagine myself in black and white shirts. It would be a dream come true for me. My friend in the national team Paolo Montero often talks about "Juve", and they would be my best choice. If this story turns out to be true and "Juventus" really wants me, I would swim back to Italy. However, until my agent calls, I won't believe it."

"Lecce" sports director confirmed today that there was a meeting with representatives of "Old Lady" club, where he asked for 10 million euros for Chevanton and to loan the forward for one season. However, it is not clear if the Turin club will want to give up Miccoli, especially if the Frenchman David Trezeguet is sold to "Barca", as in that case the team would be left with three forwards. Then "Juve" would likely offer money and a couple of players from their youth team.

Meanwhile, "Juve" is also looking for a replacement for the departing coach Marcello Lippi. The main candidates are two former Turin team players and current coaches Didier Deschamps and Cesare Prandelli. These names were mentioned by "Juventus" general director Luciano Moggi. However, according to the Spanish press, he may deliberately lie to divert attention from the real target - Italian vice-champions coach Fabio Capello. He could come to Turin together with Brazilian Emerson, which would also explain Jonathan Zebina's decision to move to "Juve" instead of "Milan" or "Inter."
