"Juventus" club director Giuseppe Marotta confirmed that Madrid's "Real" is ready to pay the buy-back clause in Alvaro Morata's contract.
For some time now, there have been talks in the media about the future of the 23-year-old striker. English clubs are interested in the Spanish national team player, but the decision maker in this situation is not "Juventus", but the "Real" club. The Italian champions would like to keep the striker in their team, but Zinedine Zidane will use the buy-back option and Morata will not return to Italy after the European Championship.
"Real" sold their youth product to "Juventus" for 20 million euros in 2014, but they included the option to buy back the player within two seasons in the contract when selling Morata. Therefore, "Real" will now pay 30 million euros, but overall this transfer of the player will cost them 10 million euros due to the amount received earlier by UEFA Champions League winners.
"Madrid's "Real" informed us that they are going to use the buy-back option. He will leave Turin and return to Spain. Then we will see what happens next (whether "Juve" will be able to buy back the striker)," - G. Marotta told the Italian newspaper "Tuttosport".
Morata scored 27 goals in 97 matches in Turin.
