The matches between "Juventus" and "Roma" did not go without serious injuries.
After it was revealed that "Roma" defender Nicolo Zaniolo tore his anterior cruciate ligaments, a similar injury was diagnosed for "Juventus" center-back Merih Demiral.
The 21-year-old Turkish player managed to open the scoring in the match against "Roma", but less than 15 minutes later had to leave the field due to injury.
"Juventus" confirmed that the defender will undergo surgery in the near future, with rehabilitation likely to last the entire season.
There is a good chance he will also have to miss the upcoming European Championship in the summer.
M. Demiral had recently outperformed Matthijs de Ligt in the starting lineup.
