J.Wilshere: R.Hodgson gives us homework

Jack Wilshere revealed that England's coach Roy Hodgson gives his players homework so that they can successfully compete in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

This week, the "Three Lions" defeated Switzerland 2-0 in Basel. Wilshere says that the whole team was encouraged to analyze their individual performances.

In the match at "St. Jakob's Park," Hodgson applied a new tactical scheme, with Wilshere playing in the defensive midfield position. The 22-year-old footballer believes that the coach will continue to use this formation in the upcoming matches against San Marino and Estonia.

"Between each game we need to do a little more," said Wilshere. "We need to do our homework, watch videos, analyze matches, because we often don't meet with the national team members. I will talk to Gary Neville. We keep in touch. The new tactical scheme will be a step forward, and we will only use it better."

Prior to his first match in the new role, Wilshere studied game footage of Italian legend Andrea Pirlo and Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano. He hopes that the analysis between matches will help him.

"This is a new role and I did it alone for the first time," the midfielder added. "Sometimes I just want to run forward, but I have to stick to discipline. I will learn everything. When the coach said I would play in that position, I watched videos of how Pirlo and Mascherano play, the best players in that position."

"They wanted me to see how Pirlo handles the ball and how Mascherano can break down attacks. I watched the World Cup final, where Argentina faced the Germans, and he played fantastically."

"He didn't do much, but he was fantastic. Also, we saw what Pirlo can do, because he proved it to us several times. They are the best players in that position, and I can only learn from them."
