Madridthe Real attacker Karim Benzema heard the verdict in a high-profile case. The 33-year-old Frenchman was found guilty in a blackmail case and sentenced to a suspended one-year prison term and ordered to pay a fine of 75,000 euros. The sniper committed the crime in 2015 when he tried to convince another French national team footballer, Mathieu Valbuena, to pay money to individuals who had compromising sexual video material of the athlete. As a result of the scandal, both K. Benzema and M. Valbuena were removed from the national team. The Real player did not represent France until the last European Championship and always denied his guilt.
