In recent times, the shining Karim Benzema played one of the best matches of his career on Sunday, as his team, Madrid's Real celebrated victory against Barcelona's Espanyol.
In this season, K. Benzema has already improved his statistics from last season. The 31-year-old Frenchman has scored 15 goals and provided six assists in 33 matches.
Against Espanyol, Benzema scored two goals, but he not only shone with accurate shots in these matches - he also distributed great passes, created positional attacks, and tore apart Espanyol's defense with sharp movements.
"I can't say if these were the best matches of my season, but I certainly enjoyed them," the Frenchman said after the match.
"I want this to continue. Of course, goals and assists are always the most important, but football is also made up of other small details. Many people judge forwards only by their goal count, but I am not like other number nines. I am a forward with the qualities of a number ten," added K. Benzema.
