"Real" Madrid sniper Karim Benzema doesn't lose hope of escaping to the pitch in the upcoming European Championship in his homeland.
Immediately, he received good news - the Versailles Appeals Court lifted the ban on contacting Mathieu Valbuena, which would have prevented the striker from representing his country in any way.
The previous court decision came into effect after Benzema's testimony in the blackmail case in February.
"Karim is very happy. Common sense prevailed," said footballer's lawyer Sylvain Cormier.
"This is an important step. Now the most important thing for us is to prove that Karim is innocent."
The decision on whether Benzema will be able to play for the French national team alongside Valbuena will depend on the country's football federation (FFP).
The national team's sniper was suspended on December 10th, and FFP president Noel Le Graet does not intend to lift the sanctions until the situation "significantly improves."
