Karim Benzema is starting a new season at Madrid's "Real" club for the first time in his career without his most trusted teammate in the attack - Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 30-year-old forward is already sweating in the "white" team's training sessions and preparing for a new season, where his performance is expected to be much better than last year.
"Of course, I hope that the upcoming years will be more successful for me than the past ones. I want to continue the history of this club and be a part of it," said the Frenchman.
"We need to stay on the path we are on now, because this club is not satisfied with just victories - every year we have to win trophies. We work hard during preparation and hope to be ready to start the season as best as possible," said K. Benzema.
When asked how he evaluates working with the new coach Julen Lopetegui, the forward emphasized that he wants to see Real controlling the ball more frequently than before.
"We know that Lopetegui is a coach whose teams like to have possession of the ball and play positional football. He also pays a lot of attention to our game without the ball - we work hard to be able to regain possession every time the opponents cross our midfield," the forward revealed about the behind-the-scenes of the training sessions.
