Last season, the UEFA Europa League winner and the most productive striker in "Sevilla", Kevin Gameiro, revealed why he chose Madrid's "Atletico" instead of "Barcelona".
Quite recently, the 29-year-old footballer officially moved from "Sevilla" to "Atletico" for 32 million euros. For a long time, there were rumors in the media that K. Gameiro would sign a contract with the Catalans, but the French striker decided not to take the risk.
"The choice of 'Atletico' was more from a football perspective," Gameiro told the "L'Equipe" newspaper. "I knew that in the 'Barcelona' club, I would be only the fourth choice. I think my playing time there would have been reduced."
"To be honest, it is more likely that I would have stayed in the 'Sevilla' team than chosen 'Barca'," continued the footballer left out of the French national team in the 2016 European Championship.
The player also added that he did not consider the possibility of moving abroad: "My family and I feel very good here. La Liga is one of the best leagues in the world. In the last three years, Spanish clubs have won all European tournaments, so I am on the right path."
Last season, K. Gameiro punished opponents' goals with 29 goals.
