K. H. Rummenigge: Envy of English Money Prompted the Super League

Before the upcoming UEFA Champions League match between Munich's Bayern and Barcelona clubs, the foreign press emphasizes that the two most famous La Liga teams have not officially withdrawn from the Super League project. Former Bundesliga champions' leader Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told "Diario AS" that such a project is doomed to fail. "This idea arose due to the revenues received in the Premier League. I maintain good relationships with Real president Florentino Perez, who has always criticized the English decision to bring millionaires, funds, and even entire states into their football world. This affects all of Europe. The major instigator is England, because there the net investments are higher than ever before. And this impacts competitiveness. The Super League would not have significantly increased revenues, but would have had two consequences. Firstly, it would have leveled the playing field between English, Spanish, and Italian clubs. It would have also eliminated drops, resulting in unlimited access for those clubs. None of these things would have been justified in Europe, as fans do not want that. You have to be careful and not do such things in football if you intend to increase finances incredibly," clarified the German.
