Kylian Mbappe's move to Real Madrid this summer did not happen. Although the Frenchman expressed a strong desire to leave Paris Saint-Germain, the clubs still did not reach an agreement. Today, an interview with K. Mbappe was released, in which the French forward shared his thoughts on the summer transfer market's ups and downs with French newspaper RMC Sport.
"I asked to leave the team in July - yes, but it's not true that I rejected 7 new contract offers. Paris Saint-Germain has given me a lot. Over the past four years, I have always felt happy here and I am still happy," said the Frenchman.
"I asked to leave the team because at that moment I did not want to extend my contract. I wanted to leave the club for a certain amount so they could find a suitable replacement. I wanted more respect: I said that if they don't sell me, I will stay.
"Personally, I did not like PSG's statement: 'He asked to leave us in the last week of August.' It was a lie, I felt like a thief. I informed them about this desire early, at the end of July," explained K. Mbappe.
