Long-time member of "Kauno Žalgiris" Karolis Šilkaitis will wear the green and white stripes in the highest national league for the eighth season - before the preparation for the 2024 season begins, the footballer signed a new contract with the club.
For K. Šilkaitis, this will be a jubilee, the tenth season in the strongest Lithuanian football league. In addition to seven seasons in the ranks of "Kauno Žalgiris," for two years the defender also represented the FK "Jonava" team.
The 27-year-old Kaunas native is one of the footballers who have played the most matches in the club's history. Having played 193 official matches with the green and white stripes, K. Šilkaitis ranks second in the team in terms of matches played, losing only to goalkeeper Deividas Mikelionis, who has played 214 matches.
In the previous season, the versatile player again was one of the most playing footballers in the team - playing in various positions, K. Šilkaitis played 31 matches in all tournaments and scored one goal.
Previously, the Žalgiris player was also called up to various age group Lithuanian youth national teams and was also part of the national team training camp.
Together with his teammates, K. Šilkaitis will start preparing for the season on January 8.
