At London's Chelsea club and in the French national team camps - there is sad news. With all his beauty this season, center-back Kurt Zouma, who has blossomed in the "Blues" team, will not play due to an injury for several months.
The 21-year-old footballer has formed a pair of center-backs with the experienced John Terry for some time. The Frenchman managed to outshine Gary Cahill, but on Sunday, after an unsuccessful defeat in a match against Manchester United, the defender's plans for the remaining season came to an end.
Chelsea confirmed that K. Zouma had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligaments, so he will need surgery. Due to this injury, the Frenchman will have to miss the rest of the season and take part in the European Championship next summer in his homeland. It was almost certain that the former Saint-Etienne player would receive a call-up from the French national team.
Chelsea's football club doctors examined Kurt Zouma and found out that he had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligaments. The footballer will undergo surgery in the next 48 hours and it is believed that he will not be able to play for approximately six months after it," the official club statement reads.
K. Zouma, who arrived at Chelsea in the summer of 2014, played 32 matches this season and scored two goals.
