One of the best Brazilian footballers of all time, Kaka, remembered his time at Real Madrid and revealed that he rejected a much more lucrative offer from Manchester City because of this transfer.
In 2009, Real, led by Florentino Perez, shook the football world - the team was supplemented by Cristiano Ronaldo for 90 million euros, and joined by Kaka, who cost 65 million euros.
Kaka, who spent four years in Madrid, played a total of 120 matches and scored 29 goals. During an interview, the Brazilian emphasized that he understands the pressure that Gareth Bale is currently facing, as he himself had to deal with serious physical problems in the Real team.
"When Milan gave permission to leave, I told myself that the only club I would leave Rossoneri for would be Real. It was the only place I wanted to play after Milan.
My desire to join Real was very strong. It was definitely not a financial question - I earned less in Madrid than in Milan. My decision never had any meaning in terms of salary, because if I had wanted to choose money, I would have gone to Man City," Kaka told Marca newspaper.
"In terms of professionalism, the time in Madrid was incredible. I should say a lot of thank yous to the club president, players, and all staff members. I know I wasn't the player everyone wanted at Real. Of course, I wanted better results, but the move to Real helped me grow as a player.
Once, when I was in the US, I visited Real and entering the dressing room, I realized that I could hold my head high. In this team, I tried to give my all, but not everything went as I wanted it to. But Real fans can be sure that I wore this shirt with great pride and a desire to succeed," Kaka concluded, currently retired from football but already with various plans.
