The career of Lithuanian national team goalkeeper Žydrūnas Karčemarskas could take a turn towards the Italian "Serie A" championship.
According to reports in the media, the footballer is actively being pursued by the "Fiorentina" club. Although the main candidate to reinforce the Florence team remains Brazilian Julio Cesar, negotiations have stalled due to the player's demand for a yearly salary of less than 2.5 million euros, prompting the search for alternative options.
"The Italian team is showing interest in my client, but at the moment I would not like to disclose his identity," said Karčemarskas' agent Valerijus Mižigurskis to "calciomercato.it". "Gaziantepspor" would be willing to sell him. Which country is our priority? Italy or England."
In Turkey, the 30-year-old Lithuanian has been successfully playing since 2010. Before that, he wore the jersey of Moscow's "Dinamo" for seven seasons in Russia, and has also represented Alytus' "Dainava" and Vilnius' "Žalgiris" teams in Lithuania.
He has played 64 matches for the Lithuanian national team.
