There were several changes in the "Kaunas" lineup for the match - Modestas Stonys replaced the goalkeeper position, Darius Sanajevas appeared in defense after a two-year break, the Georgian Nukri Manchkava returned to the lineup after recovering, and Artūras Rimkevičius replaced the disqualified Ričardas Beniušis in the attack.
Throughout the match, the Kaunas team dominated on the field and broke through to the front after 15 minutes, when defender Mindaugas Bagužis scored after a corner kick. Although the hosts struggled to double their lead, it finally happened at the beginning of the second half, when a penalty was awarded to "Šilutė."
Although the first shot by the Brazilian Rafael Ledesma was saved by the "Šilutė" goalkeeper Laurynas Vertelis, the referee ordered a retake and R. Ledesma did not make a mistake the second time.
Ten minutes later, the score became overwhelming, with young debutant Mantas Fridrikas scoring. The fourth, and as it later turned out, the last goal into the "Šilutė" goal came in the middle of the second half, when the Senegalese Pascal Mendy broke through on the right side and defeated L.Vertelis to score his first goal of the season.
As expected, "Kaunas" celebrated a convincing victory and now, after the first round, is two points behind the leader "Vilnius" club.
