Kaunas Žalgiris club defeated Šiauliai

The 30th round of the "TOPsport A League" ended in victory for the Žalgiris team. The "Kauno Žalgiris" squad did not falter after conceding an early goal and defeated Šiauliai with a score of 2:1 (0:1).

Mindaugas Čepas' team started the match in Kaunas powerfully. In the 3rd minute, Gabrielius Micevičius passed the ball to the team's top scorer Davi Ikauniekas, who brought Šiauliai to the forefront.

A few minutes later, G. Micevičius again looked for the Latvian with a pass, but Deividas Mikelionis saved the team from trouble by leaving the goal in time.

In the middle of the first half, the Žalgiris defenders decided to gift the guests, but Danielis Romanovskis could not beat the opponents' goalkeeper D. Mikelionis. A moment later, Divin’as Naah threatened twice; however, the ball narrowly missed once, and Gustas Baliutavičius defended the goal on the second attempt.

As the first half of the match drew to a close, Aldayras Hernandez found himself in the opponents' penalty area and made a very dangerous shot just next to the goal. Later, Gratas Sirgėdas also tested the goalkeeper's vigilance.

In the 53rd minute, chaos broke out in Šiauliai's penalty area – Numanas Kurdičius shot straight at the goalkeeper from very close range, and then the Bosnian made an assist to A. Hernandez. The score became equal at 1:1.

Žalgiris did not reduce their tempo and continued to press the opponents – in the middle of the second half, Fedor Černych brought the hosts ahead after a pass from Oyinlola Kayode.

Having won the match, the "Kauno Žalgiris" players moved closer to the "Hegelmann" team with 52 points, while FA "Šiauliai" remains fifth with 33 points.
