Kaunas Žalgiris" defeated Telšiai's "Džiugas

The 16th round of the "TOPsport A League" was concluded by the match between Telšiai's "Džiugas" and "Kauno Žalgiris". In a competitive match, the Kaunas team celebrated a minimal victory of 1:0 (0:0).

The visitors from Kaunas started the match more actively – already in the first standard situation, the ball shook the crossbar after Jason Noslino's header. In the middle of the half, Lukas Ankudinovas made a mistake near his penalty area, but Filipas Dangubičius failed to outplay Telšiai's goalkeeper Ivan Baturinas.

In the first half, "Džiugas" attacks mostly lacked accuracy, and the goalkeeper of Žalgiris, Deividas Mikelionis, had almost no work. Towards the end of the referee's compensatory time, there was a commotion in Telšiai's penalty area, but the ball ended up in I. Baturinas's hands.

In the 62nd minute, Filipas Dangubičius scored the first goal of the season championship. The ball, deflected during a set piece, landed at the feet of the Croatian, who scored the only goal of the match.

As the match neared its end, Oyinlola Kayode received a red card for a rough tackle after a VAR review in the substitution zone.

In the referee's compensatory time, Miroslavas Puškarovas headed the ball, but it was caught by D. Mikelionis.

After this victory, "Kauno Žalgiris" has 23 points and moves up to fourth place, while Telšiai remain with 25 points and are a step higher.
