At least two Lithuanian teams have already secured the right to play in the 2024 Baltic Youth Football League (BYFL) final matches. First, on Wednesday, this was achieved by the "Kaunas Žalgiris" FA boys under 15 team, and on Saturday, the Vilnius BFA team, a year older, secured a ticket to the final.
This week, three tournament matches took place in Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia, where the strongest youth teams in the U15 and U16 age groups compete in this BYFL tournament. It became clear that the third season will also be crowned with a Lithuanian accent, as at least two representatives of our country will appear in the finals, and another Lithuanian team will guarantee a place in the U16 division final.
The "Kaunas Žalgiris" FA, after a 1-0 victory away against FS "Metta," further solidified their advantage on Wednesday. At the VDU Valdas Adamkus Sports Center stadium, the Kaunas team took the lead after a double by Jokūbas Kirbutas (25 and 27 min.), and in the second half, the score increased even more after goals by Vėjas Pocius (51 min.) and Kasparas Pangonis (80+1 min.) - 4:0.

In Riga, the local RFS and Klaipėda FM U15 teams faced each other in the first semifinal match. The Klaipėda team took the lead after a goal by Nojus Vyšniauskas (24 min.), but the Riga team managed to turn the tide in their favor in the second half. Goals by Alan Stepanov (42 min.), Zahar Maligin (59 min.), and Robert Andrelevskis (67 min.) were scored against Klaipėda.
The Riga team achieved victory with a score of 3:1, but the students of the Klaipėda football school will have the opportunity to retaliate with a larger margin at their stadium on June 8.
Vilnius BFA traveled to Tallinn with a significant goal advantage from the first encounter, which ended 5:2. In the return match with FC "Nõmme United," a goalless draw was played, so the residents of Vilnius became the first participants in the U16 division final.
In the next semifinal match, "Be1 NFA" and FK "Žalgiris" will compete. The first match will take place on June 5 at Vilnius Senvagė Gymnasium stadium, and the return match on June 9 at the LFF Kaunas Training Center stadium.
