Kaunas "Žalgiris" surpasses Telsiai in rain

The 34th round of the "Optibet A Lyga" took place in Telšiai, where the local team hosted guests from the Temporary Capital in ruthless weather conditions. Xabi Auzmendi's double determined "Kauno Žalgiris" victory against Telšiai's "Džiugas" -  2:0 (1:0).

The guests had their chances already in the first minutes of the match, but their team was saved by Tomas Rapalavičius. In the next episode, Martynas Dapkus missed the ball after a raised corner, and a little later Xabi Auzmendi struck beside the goal.

The pressure from the Kaunas team bore fruit in the 11th minute - after a great pass from Jason Noslino, X. Auzmendi found himself in front of the goal and put his team ahead.

After playing a little over half of the first half, Dominykas Kubilinskas took a free kick, but the ball flew over the goal. Shortly after, Deividas Mikelionis deflected Nuno Pereira's long-range shot.

In the second half, Sarpong took a shot from afar, but the opponent's goalkeeper played confidently. In the next attack, Armandas Kučys found himself in a dangerous situation, but T. Rapalavičius defended impeccably. In the 66th minute, Danilas Ankudinovas found himself completely open near the goal, but the football player, who did not expect to receive the pass, missed the ball and missed the opportunity.

X. Auzmendi, who already scored a double during added time, helped secure the win - S. Moschinas blocked the opponent's shot, and the timely and accurate Spanish player scored again.

After the 34th round of the "Optibet A Lyga," "Džiugas" remains in ninth place with 23 points, while the green and white team ranks 5th with 49 points.
