“Optibet A Lyga” didn’t wait long to bounce back after last week's defeat, competing for medals against “Kauno Žalgiris”.
Žalgiris, playing as visitors in the 35th round match, defeated Telšiai's “Džiugas” with a score of 3:0 (1:0), who will finish the championship in 9th place and play the relegation match against Klaipėda's “Neptūnas”.
During the first half-hour of the game, Žalgiris had a clear advantage and forced the goalkeeper Vincentas Šarkauskas to intervene multiple times. However, Džiugas conceded the first goal in a very painful way.
Central defender Lukas Ankudinovas carelessly played with his hand in the penalty area - the penalty awarded by the referee was converted by Gratas Sirgėdas.
At the beginning of the second half, “Džiugas” played more actively, but in the 69th minute they conceded again. A ball was deflected very kindly to former Šarkauskas Egidijus, and he directed it towards the goal with a powerful shot.
In the 78th minute, “Kauno Žalgiris” further solidified their advantage: after a pass from E. Vaitkūnas, Linas Pilibaitis scored accurately.
