Intriguing. This word best describes the weekend's 14th round of the "TOPsport futsal A league,” during which both teams in the bottom two positions fought for victories. On Saturday, "Kėdainiai United” dealt a blow to "Gargždų pramogoms” on their home ground, and on Sunday, "VGTU Vilkai” avenged themselves against "Radviliškis” at home, securing their third victory of the season.

Sensation

After the thirteenth round, "Gargždų pramogų” footballers, who had distanced themselves from "Brooklyn” and "Vikingai,” managed to lose at home to "Kėdainiai United,” who had claimed just their second victory of the season. Interestingly, four of the six goals in this match came from set pieces.

The Kėdainiai team began building their advantage early in the match, when after a corner, a missed mark allowed Rokas Mikuckis to find himself alone against the goalkeeper, sending the ball into the net.

Halfway through the first half, the home team equalized. This time, the ball was successfully lofted from the sideline to the league's leading scorer, Deividas Reimaris, who scored his nineteenth goal of the season with a confident shot.

The show of set pieces continued. With five minutes left in the half, Evaldas Kugys doubled Kėdainiai's lead with a spectacular shot into the near corner from a crossbar, and just before halftime, after a corner, D. Reimaris restored parity.

The fate of the match was decided in the middle of the second half. Initially, after a goalkeeper's throw across the field, without letting the ball touch the ground, R. Mikuckis scored with a magnificent shot, and a few minutes later, Mikuckis intercepted the ball near the opponent's penalty area once again, sealing the match.

Goals: D. Reimaris 2, R. Mikuckis 3, E. Kugys

Surprise

With less than seven minutes to go in the match, Nerijus Volkovas created a two-goal lead for "Radviliškis,” but in the remaining time, "VGTU Vilkai” scored three times, reducing their lag in the standings to just one point.

The first half unfolded like this: Agnius Juozapaitis opened the scoring, and Lukas Tatarūnas equalized. In the last 16 seconds before the break, both teams had a chance to convert a 10-meter penalty, but only the players from Radviliškis succeeded.

In the second half, "Radviliškis” created a two-goal advantage twice. The second lead proved decisive. "VGTU Vilkai” replaced their goalkeeper with a fifth player, resulting in a quick outcome.

With two goals in a matter of minutes to erase the deficit, the Vilnius team provoked the eighth foul from their opponents with 57 seconds remaining, which granted them the right to take a 10-meter penalty. Martynas Valukonis’ shot was flawless.

"VGTU Vilkai” - "Radviliškis” 5:4

Goals: L. Tatarūnas 2, J. Lebedevas, D. Zybartas, M. Valukonis; A. Juozapaitis 2, N. Volkovas 2

Confidently

After a tough victory last week, "Kauno Žalgirio” representatives once again awarded Mažeikiai VIP players with an 8-0 defeat.

The Kaunas team took the lead just 64 seconds into the match when Albertas Voskunovič created a chance for himself and sent the ball into the net. Albertas remained very active, but it was his teammates who scored.

Halfway through the first half, Vladimir Derendiajevas doubled the lead with a powerful shot from close range. This was one of two goals by the Žalgiris player, the second coming when "Kauno Žalgiris” was leading 7-0.

Justinas Zagurskas contributed two goals to the win, and last month’s MVP Filipe Da Silva scored a hat-trick, finding the net three times in just six minutes in the middle of the second half.

2nd Half

The Jonavos "Vikingai” claimed a very important victory in the fight to return to the top three, defeating "Akmenės kraštas,” currently in sixth place, 8-4. In a particularly high-scoring first half, both teams netted four goals, while only "Vikingai” scored in the second half.

The home team started the match better. They led 1-0, then 3-1, later 4-3. However, with 80 seconds left before the break, following a counterattack, Igoris Manduras equalized with a shot into the far lower corner. The action moved into the second half.

After the break, it took just two minutes for the home team to surge ahead again—and remain in front until the end of the match. Bermundezas Sepulveda closed out a teammate’s excellent pass and successfully drove the ball into the net himself.

Then, "Akmenės kraštas” scored an own goal, subsequently replaced their goalkeeper with a fifth player, conceding two goals into an empty net.
