On the official website of Atletico Madrid, it was announced that a new contract has been signed with 25-year-old team midfielder Koke.
Koke is currently one of the best midfielders in La Liga. The Barcelona club showed great interest in him, as did London's Chelsea, but he chose to stay with Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish national team midfielder had a contract with Atletico until 2019. Atletico was not ready to lose one of their main team leaders and offered him a new contract valid until 2024.
The player himself was delighted to sign the new contract and stated that Atletico is his only team: "Atletico is my team for life and I am very happy to be part of its future."
Koke made his debut in the main team back in 2009. Becoming a regular starter for Atletico in the 2012-13 season.
In total, Koke has already played 322 matches for the Spanish capital team, scoring 28 goals and once becoming a La Liga champion.
