The new coach of the Lithuanian national team will not be revealed soon. Csaba Laszlo, who resigned from his position on Thursday, promises that the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) will carefully consider who should lead the national team forward.
Speaking to "EuroFootball.com," LFF President Julius Kvedaras said that the contract with Laszlo was terminated not because of last week's loss to Latvia.
"We were not satisfied not only with this result, but also with the general trends of the game," said the head of LFF. "However, we parted ways amicably, as that is the job of a coach."
According to Kvedaras, there is currently no thought about replacing the Hungarian coach: "No decisions have been made. We will wait until the end of the World Cup qualifying cycle and then sit down at the table."
He did not rule out the possibility that the former assistant coach Igoris Pankratjevas, who was temporarily appointed to the position, could remain in that role: "Why not? He is an experienced specialist who has been working with the national team or alongside it for many years. Of course, we do not close the doors to other specialists, including foreigners, if they show interest."
