The head coach of the Spanish national team, Luis Aragones, won an appeal against racist remarks about French national team striker Thierry Henry. The strategist made a harsh comment about London's "Arsenal" striker during a training session with the Spanish national team in 2004 when he was trying to motivate Henry's club teammate Jose Reyes. The Spanish Football Federation fined L. Aragones 3000 euros for this inappropriate behavior in sports. Later, the insult was reclassified as "behavior that could be considered racist," but it was not proven in court. "The court ruled that the Spanish Sports Discipline Committee incorrectly evaluated the evidence. We hope that now all possible measures will be taken to restore the good name of the national team coach and RFEF Discipline Committee," explained the Spanish Football Federation in a brief statement. "I went to court because it tarnished my reputation and because the insult that the judges thought about does not exist," Aragones told a Spanish radio station. RFEF has not yet announced whether the initial fine will remain in effect, while the latest court decision is indisputable and unappealable.
