Another Everton defender Leighton Baines said that English national team players would be happy if the contract with head coach Roy Hodgson was extended after the 2016 European Championship.
The current strategist's contract will expire after the tournament in France, where his players are likely to qualify as they already have three victories out of as many possible in the qualifiers.
The 67-year-old specialist managed to rehabilitate the national team quite well after a poor World Cup in Brazil, where the Englishmen were heading home after the group stage. Baines said that the players really hope that Hodgson will keep his position.
"Players would be delighted if Hodgson extended his contract," said the defender. "We all enjoy working with him. He is a good guy, easy to talk to."
"He has a lot of knowledge about football, has worked in many different jobs in different countries. We, his players, would be happy if he stayed with us."
Leighton Baines also said that Wayne Rooney, who will be playing his 100th game for the national team against Slovenia, is a great authority for his club mate Ross Barkley.
