Before the Spanish Championship match against San Sebastian's "Real Sociedad," held a press conference, "Barcelona" coach Luis Enrique spoke about the challenges awaiting his players in the new year and, of course, about the FIFA-imposed punishment.
According to the coach, the ban on registering new players for the Catalan club will affect the transfer policy, but the team will "get through that period."
"We all hoped for a different arbitration decision, and of course, it would have been better if there was no ban. Now we will have to deal with the players we have," said Luis Enrique. "Also, let's not forget that 'Barcelona' has players loaned to other teams. They can also be useful."
The coach also emphasized that "Barcelona" has always been a team that pays great attention to their youth academy, so now it will be specifically the cantera that helps the team survive those years.
"This will be a great opportunity for the most promising academy players to demonstrate their abilities. They will certainly have that chance," the coach assured.
Luis Enrique did not forget to discuss Daniel Alves' situation. The Brazilian's contract with "Barcelona" ends this summer, and the defender can already start looking for a new team.
"Daniel is a very important player in the starting lineup. I am satisfied with his contribution and work," said the Spaniard.
On Sunday, Luis Enrique's players will test their strength against "Real Sociedad" at the "Anoeta" stadium. In the Basque team's field, the Catalans have experienced three failures in the last four years, but the coach does not lack optimism and hopes that this series of failures will finally end.
"The first match in the new year against 'Real Sociedad' is a good test for the players. We are going to fight for three points, and we will do everything to take them home," assured Luis Enrique.
