Before the King's Cup match with the "Elche" team happening this Thursday, in a press conference held by "Barcelona" strategist Luis Enrique had to answer journalists' questions about the team's atmosphere.
Lately, the much criticized "Barcelona" coach noted that his relationship with his players has not changed.
"My communication with the team's players is the same as at the beginning of the season. No, I don't talk to each footballer individually every day, but I can do it if I see the need. Players can also approach me at any time," said Luis Enrique.
Information also appeared in the Spanish media that the "Barcelona" leaders presented an ultimatum to the conditions - to significantly improve the team's game in the upcoming matches with "Elche" and Madrid's "Atletico". However, Luis Enrique denied such news.
"It is obvious that lately there have been rumors and falsehoods in the club, and many of these things are negative. What is written in the media does not affect me, because I cannot control this process. I know that we need to improve our game if we want to compete for trophies, so it will be done," reassured the coach.
According to Luis Enrique, he understands perfectly that the evaluation of a coach's work directly depends on the match results: "My relationship with the players has not deteriorated. On the contrary - it has improved, because we know each other better. Now there are many negative things surfacing, because there are quite a few people who were dissatisfied with last weekend's match. I have the strength and desire, so I am determined to continue working, as I feel the support and backing of both my players and the club's leaders."
On Wednesday evening, "Barcelona" President Josep Maria Bartomeu will also hold his press conference. It is believed that there will also be a lot of attention given to discussing the team's atmosphere, and also the President of the Catalan club will answer questions about why the existing contract with the team's sports director Andoni Zubizarreta was terminated.
