Luis Enrique didn't need to be disappointed with his first match leading the national team - the Spanish team defeated England in the UEFA Nations League with a score of 2:1.
The English team took the lead first, but the Spaniards fought back and achieved victory. Many times the team was saved from goals by David De Gea, who received criticism from his country's media after a rather unsuccessful World Cup.
L. Enrique was satisfied with the performance of the "Manchester United" goalkeeper and said that he never doubted his abilities.
"I never had any doubts about David. Like all of us, he has made mistakes, but that doesn't change the essence - he is one of the best goalkeepers on the planet.
"I am happy for him, he is a top-level player," said L. Enrique.
D. De Gea also received praise from his teammate Rodrigo: "He saved us. De Gea has always been very important for our team. I hope that the media will start writing more positive thoughts about him."
