The head coach of Barcelona, Luis Enrique, boasted about his team's victory in the King's Cup and added that it was an impressive end to the season.
Yesterday at the Vicente Calderon stadium, Barca clashed with Sevilla in the King's Cup final. The Catalans played without the dismissed Javier Mascherano from the middle of the first half, but managed to withstand the remaining minutes of regular time and extra time to win 2-0 against the UEFA Europa League champions.
"It was an impressive end to the season," said L. Enrique. "The scenario of this King's Cup final was complex, as we had to play with ten men for a long time."
"We improved our defense. Everything we did throughout the season in the Primera Division helped us win the King's Cup today. This team is made up of champions. We are proud of all the players in the squad.
"When the team had to defend, we closed the gaps, competed, and played good football. We are proud of ourselves, and now it's time to enjoy the triumph," added the coach.
"Barcelona could not defend their UEFA Champions League title this season, but the season was still impressive - to compete for four titles out of six possible."
