L. Figo's promise for FIFA elections - more national teams in the World Cup

Luis Figo insists that if he is elected FIFA president in the upcoming elections in May, he will seriously consider increasing the number of teams in the World Cup.

The 42-year-old Portuguese football legend believes that the World Cup could feature not 32, but 40 teams. L. Figo stated that he has alternative options.

FIFA could organize two tournaments, each with 24 teams. They would play on two continents, and the teams would compete with each other in the knockout stage.

The former player of Madrid's "Real" and Milan's "Inter" is one of four candidates trying to surpass Sepp Blatter in the FIFA elections. The latter will seek a fifth four-year term.

In his program, L. Figo also proposed distributing one billion FIFA reserve US dollars to 209 federations.
