L. Jardimas: Buffon settled the fate of the match

"Monaco" coach Leonardo Jardim believes that the most important figure in last night's UEFA Champions League semi-final match was Gianluigi Buffon.

The French champions lost at home to Turin's "Juventus" club with a score of 2-0, and the 39-year-old goalkeeper withstood several important shots that could have changed the course of the match.

The normally impressive "Monaco" attack was stopped by the "bianconeri", who are now just a step away from the tournament final.

"Juventus" started well. They were better than us in the first 10 or 15 minutes. However, the match became more balanced afterwards," Jardim said.

"We controlled the ball more, we were more in the last 30 meters of their side. However, I think the biggest difference was the cold-bloodedness in finishing attacks."

"Juventus" had three chances and scored two goals. We did not score from our three chances."

"Also, Gianluigi Buffon made some great saves. We didn't score specifically because of him. He defended the goal well two or three times. "Juventus" did not concede goals because of his play."

Interestingly, yesterday the "Juventus" players set a club record - it was the first time they kept six clean sheets in a row in Champions League matches.
