24-year-old "Liverpool" goalkeeper Loris Karius will not soon forget the nightmare of the UEFA Champions League final - his childhood mistakes cost the "Reds" the title.
In the final held in Kiev, Madrid's "Real" defeated their opponents with a score of 3-1 in the second half. Two goals came precisely after goalkeeper errors - the first time L. Karius tried to clear the ball, he hit Karim Benzema's foot, and the next time he failed to stop a fairly simple shot from Gareth Bale.
Immediately after the match, L. Karius burst into tears and walked off to apologize to the fans.
"I don't feel anything. I know I lost the game for my team," the goalkeeper said. "I want to apologize to all the fans. These mistakes cost us the victory. If only I could correct them..."
"I let the team down. I feel sorry for all the guys. I can't accurately describe how bad I feel right now. I can only apologize for my mistakes costing us the title," the German added.
