The search for the Polish striker's new initiatives has been going on for quite some time, as the Bavarians' last four seasons were excellent.
Recently, there were reports in the media that the 29-year-old sniper does not push himself in "Bayern" training sessions, but the team's coach Jupp Heynckes denied this.
"According to the information I have, Madrid's 'Real' is not interested in Lewandowski," Matthaus told "Sky Sports."
The former German national team member also urged the "Bayern" striker to focus in the most important stage of the season - sometimes he is criticized for not performing well after crucial matches.
"I hear that he is quite indifferent in the training sessions, and could make better decisions in important matches," Matthaus added.
"He lacks only this small percentage. He must focus on what is most important, not on the slightest changes in his opinion."
Lewandowski scored 39 goals and made four assists in 44 matches in all competitions this season.
