L. Messi blamed attacking players and schedule after defeat

Argentinian national team captain Lionel Messi lost to the Germans in the final and his dream did not come true. After the match, the Barcelona star said that the forwards and the schedule were to blame for the loss.

Germany defeated the South American team in the Maracana stadium in extra time by a narrow margin and became the world champions. The Germans played the semifinals on Tuesday, while the Argentinians had to fight against the Netherlands on Wednesday.

L. Messi was very disappointed, but also emphasized that Argentina reaching the final was already an achievement.

"For many years, Argentina has not played among the top four national teams, and in this championship we have reached not only the semifinals, but also the final. We should be proud of ourselves, but losing in the final is sad," said the player recognized as the best of the tournament.

"Our forwards wasted really great chances. The schedule was also not in our favor, as we played the semifinals one day later than Germany. In addition, our matches were much harder. During this extra time, it was physically felt," added L. Messi.
