One of the best football players on the planet, Lionel Messi, did not start the 2018 World Cup as he and Argentina's football fans had hoped.
In the opening match of Group D, Argentina tried to defeat the World Cup debutant Iceland. The match ended in a draw, but L. Messi had the opportunity to expand the victory in the middle of the second half by converting a penalty kick.
"I feel responsible for these draws," - said the Argentinean slightly disappointed after the match.
"We wanted to start the tournament with a win, but even after the draw our goal remains the same - to win the remaining two matches," - added L. Messi.
The goal scorer Sergio Aguero also shared his observations after the match: "We couldn't find space in the penalty area. Iceland played defensively in the second half, so it was difficult."
