Lionel Messi once again put on a great performance in his World Cup career.
The forward scored a goal and stood out with other impressive moments in the victorious 2-1 quarter-final against the Australian national team.
After the match, the veteran said: "I didn't even know it was my 1000th game.
"We were worried because we only had 2 days to prepare. We knew it would be a very physical game," Messi said.
Argentina's national team will play their next match on Friday, so coach Lionel Scaloni hoped that Angel Di Maria, who was really missed today, will be ready for the next game.
"Let's hope that Di Maria's situation improves every day and that he will be ready by Friday," the coach said.
On Friday, Argentina will face the Netherlands in the World Cup quarter-finals.
