The star of the Argentine national team and "Barcelona," accused by Spanish prosecutors in a tax evasion case, received clemency.
L. Messi and his father were sentenced to 21 months in prison, but prosecutors agreed that the imprisonment sentence would not be applied.
"Marca" reported that the imprisonment sentence was changed to a financial one. L. Messi will have to pay a fine of 255 thousand euros, and his father - 180 thousand euros.
The court warned L. Messi and his father that any violation could lead to the return of the imprisonment sentence. Such a punishment was not immediately applied due to the "absence of previous violations" and the voluntary return of money to the state treasury.
