The Croatian Football Association confirmed that Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric will not be able to play until next summer.
The 29-year-old player sustained an injury in the 1-1 draw during the 2016 European Championship qualifying match against the Italian national team.
Upon arrival in Madrid, where Modric was examined by club doctors, it was reported that the test results showed a tear in his left hamstring muscle.
Croatian representatives released an official statement stating that the footballer will be out for approximately three months.
"Due to almost torn muscles in the left leg, Modric will not be able to return to the field for about three months."
"Surgery will not be required, the midfielder will be treated with traditional methods."
Due to this injury, Modric will have to miss the world club cup matches.
