Madrid's "Real" and Luka Modric have agreed on extending the contract. The 33-year-old footballer will stay in the Spanish capital at least until 2021.
His previous contract was supposed to expire in 2020. Last summer, there were talks about the Croatian moving to Milan's "Inter", but Florentino Perez was not willing to part ways with one of his team's most important players.
L. Modric will eventually become one of the highest-paid players in the club - likely earning 10 million euros per year, like the team captain Sergio Ramos.
"Marca" claims that both the club and L. Modric believe that 2021 will be the right time to end their collaboration. There is a high probability that the midfielder will also end his career with this contract - he will be 36 by then.
Having cost 30 million euros to Real Madrid in 2012, L. Modric has already played 290 matches and scored 16 goals for the "White" club.
