L. Modric joined the growing list of players accused of tax evasion

In Spain, the problems of the most famous football players due to tax evasion do not end - this time an investigation has been started regarding a possible offense by Luka Modrić.

The Croat is accused of not paying a tax amount exceeding 870 thousand euros to the Spanish government in 2013 and 2014. Along with the footballer, his wife Vanja will also be judged for possible violations.

Prosecutors who filed charges on Wednesday claim that L. Modrić had financial transactions that took place in the Isle of Man, which were not reported to the Spanish government, and it is believed that the footballer tried to hide taxes owed in Spain in this way.

Charges against L. Modrić were filed just one day after another "Real" player, Marcelo, attended a court hearing for the same offense. The Brazilian is being judged for not paying nearly half a million euros in taxes for financial actions in other countries.

These two players are far from being the only ones who have been or are being judged for the same crime. Last year, Lionel Messi and his father were found guilty of tax evasion. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Carvalho, Angel Di Maria, Javier Mascherano, Radamel Falcao, Fabio Coentrao, and "Manchester United" coach Jose Mourinho are currently being investigated for possible tax evasion.
