Former London "Arsenal" striker Lukas Podolski believes that Arsenal should be replaced by a coach from Germany.
Yesterday, the Frenchman surprised the entire football world by announcing that the "Gunners" team will be left after this season. This immediately raised a lot of questions about what everything will look like after almost 22 years with this specialist at the helm.
Podolski, who is now playing in Japan, can't wait to see the future of his former team.
"If someone spends 22 years at the club, they leave a lot of marks," Podolski told "Die Welt".
"I am curious about who they will choose as his successor. It is a question of whether they want someone with experience like Wenger - someone like Carlo Ancelotti, or maybe a young, hungry coach."
"I believe that Arsenal would be suitable for a German coach. I feel that way. The club has been relying on German experience for several years now."
Podolski's memories of Wenger are the warmest.
"I got along with him great. He's a young, relaxed guy," added the German.
"He never yells, he's always calm - a gentleman. He is a great coach. Also, he always enjoyed it."
"I always felt the same feeling with him as with Joachim Low or Jup Heynckes."
"They are coaches who clearly know what they want, but do not annoy their team. In that case, the team usually thanks them."
