"Manchester United" defender Luke Shaw believes that the decision to miss the European Championship held during the summer was the right one.
The Englishman suffered a broken leg in a UEFA Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven last September, causing him to drop out of the squad for the entire season.
However, at that time, he still hoped to recover in time for "EURO 2016".
"I thought I would be physically ready before the European championships, but as they approached, I realized that it would be best not to rush," Shaw said.
"I really wanted to go there and I did everything to be prepared, but that opportunity has passed."
"Not going to the championship was the best option. It was the best decision I could make."
"In the past year, many strong left-backs have emerged, especially Danny Rose, who, in my opinion, was the best last season."
At the same time, Shaw added that he is happy with the existing competition because it pushes him forward. This season, the 21-year-old footballer has already played three matches and will represent the England national team in the World Cup qualifiers.
