L. Suarez: "I respect "Liverpool", but there will be no friendship on the field"

Luis Suarez is preparing to return to the fortress of "Anfield" after more than four years. The 32-year-old footballer along with Barcelona will face Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.

For L. Suarez, this club is familiar - the Uruguayan played here for 3.5 years. His excellent performance in this team later secured him a contract with Barcelona.

The striker nostalgically remembers his time at Liverpool, but admits that he will not try to be friendly in the field.

"I am extremely grateful to the Liverpool club, but once I step onto the field, I forget about any friendship," Suarez said in an interview.

"Of course, before the match, it will be nice to talk about it. Liverpool has given me a lot, but as I said, memories fade when you start to play," continued the Uruguayan.

Despite the fact that L. Suarez has scored 131 goals in the La Liga championship in five years, he still often receives criticism for his performance in the Champions League tournament, where, for example, he has not stood out since 2015.

"Because of this, my sleep has definitely not improved. I only know that I am the only player in Europe who has been able to outscore Messi and Ronaldo in the battle for the 'Golden Boot' in recent years," Suarez rebutted critics.

The first match between Barcelona and Liverpool at Camp Nou stadium will take place next Wednesday, and the second leg match against Liverpool will be on May 7th.
