The 29-year-old striker Luis Suarez, playing his second season at Barcelona, revealed the main reasons why he decided to leave the Liverpool team.
The leader of the Uruguayan national team played for the "Reds" team from 2011 to 2014 when "Barca" bought him for 81 million euros. L. Suarez never played in the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool throughout the years, which is why the striker decided to move to a higher level.
"My desire was to help the Liverpool club reach the highest level because they hadn't played in it for five years. We constantly talked about it in the dressing room," said the Uruguayan.
"When a team is not competing in the Champions League, it is very difficult to acquire the best players in the world. That's why I came to Barcelona.
"I knew that there would be an opportunity not only to play in this tournament but also to win it," added the striker who triumphed in the Champions League last year.
This season, L. Suarez is playing a remarkable season. In the 34 matches he has played, he has already managed to score 36 goals.
